西西里外海難民船沉 約50人喪生

義大利新聞社（ANSA）報導，一艘約搭載250人的難民船今天在西西里島（Sicily）以南海域沉沒，造成約50人喪生，約200人被救起。死者中約有10名孩童。

報導說，約150人被一艘馬爾他船救起，另有50人被義大利海軍救起來。

馬爾他（Malta）海軍發言人告訴法新社：「救援工作仍在進行中，現場有強風，航行條件不佳。」

他說，船難現場在馬爾他島以南約110公里、義大利最南端的拉姆培杜薩島（Lampedusa Island）以南約100公里處，救援船隻和直升機已派往現場。

路透社報導，一架馬爾他軍機約在格林威治時間14時看到這艘難民船出問題，於是投擲了一艘救生艇到海面。

救上船的難民，傷勢較重的已派直升機送到拉姆培杜薩島。

10月3日，一艘搭載厄利垂亞（Eritrea）和索馬利亞難民的船隻在拉姆培杜薩島外海沉沒，造成約339人喪生。這是近來傷亡最慘重的一起難民船事故。
